Mental health may be a less taboo topic today, but there is still a lot of stigma surrounding it. Afterwards, they were treated to a lunch donated by Cub Foods, as well as a message from 32-year-old jazz musician Sam Miltich of Grand Rapids, who has battled schizophrenia for 10 years. Their goal is to take the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by offering 8-hour courses that teach individuals how to identify and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.

As such, her mission has been to help people understand what it means to have a mental illness. The videos are part of the "Starting the Conversation: College and Your Mental Health" guide NAMI and the Jed Foundation released previous year. Miltich's appearance was made possible by the Evansville Art Center.

"Working with artists and musicians it becomes very clear that mental health issues in the community are prominent and the nature of putting yourself on the line to create art and music makes mental wellbeing a hugely important cause to provide support and awareness for". A reported 70 percent of adolescents with mental health issues don't receive the care they need. I didn't want to give up on the idea, so I got in touch with Taylor from Grout Presents who was keen to get on board and help put something together. "Note what barriers might come up when following through with this plan and problem-solve how to avoid them". "It's no different than any other health condition".

"I'd like to see people recognizing themselves in terms of their strengths, their resiliency, their particular method for overcoming a struggle", she said.

"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Mantality magazine, therefore, to show the importance of talking about mental health more widely within the sporting arena generally, and supporting promotion of the message that no one need ever be alone in facing such issues". If symptoms are minor in the beginning, they could escalate to a risky level.

"When you see certain patterns change in your child; you see grades suddenly fall down, you see him or her not having any friends, you see him or her mostly in his or her room, playing solo games or just kind of lying around; those are all signs of depression, said Dr. Grover". "We have good treatment and with early intervention, we can get the symptoms under control before they get out of control".
