"India hopes for an early resumption of talks between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides, for finding a comprehensive resolution", Mr. Modi said.

Abbas and Modi will sign several deals "on cooperation in various areas", the foreign ministry said, without providing specific details. Abbas said Palestine appreciated the solidarity India extends to its cause.

Prime Minister Modi said both India and Palestine have agreed to work together through practical cooperation on building Palestine's economy and contribute to improving the lives of its people.

Trump is scheduled to arrive in Israel on May 22, when he will meet with President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He himself supports establishing Arab relations with Israel after a Palestinian state is recognized, but not before.

He also spoke to Modi about his conversation with US President Donald Trump, when he visited Washington last month, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Abbas arrived with a delegation for his third state visit to India, where he will hold key talks on bilateral, regional and worldwide issues, including the peace process in the restive Middle East, according to India's foreign ministry. The two sides also inked five MoUs on visa exemption on diplomatic and official passports, cooperation in youth affairs and sports, agricultural cooperation, cooperation in health sector, and information-technology and electronics.

We would continue to support development and capacity of the Palestine.

On Monday, Chief Palestinian negotiator, Saeb Erekat, demanded an apology from Israel for the expulsion of thousands of Palestinians from their land. New Delhi has largely abstained from voting against it.
