Lawrence O'Donnell confirms contract talks with MSNBC

Word of O'Donnell's uncertain status first leaked over the weekend.

The same exec said on Tuesday that Griffin's job is safe and that he'll remain as MSNBC's president "for years to come".

With less than three weeks left on his current four-year contract, which ends in early June, the 65-year-old anchor-who is MSNBC's second highest-rated personality, right behind Maddow at 9 p.m. -had yet to hear as of Tuesday morning from Griffin or Lack on whether they want to keep his six-year-old program on the outlet's prime-time schedule, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Lack reportedly wants former NBC News anchor Brian Williams to take O'Donnell's spot at 10:00 p.m. Williams now hosts "The 11th Hour" at 11:00 p.m. On Wednesday O'Donnell noted on Twitter that his contract expires June 4. I'll let you know where you can watch me June 5 if it's not msnbc.

Lawrence O'Donnell of MSNBC will soon be without a contract and that has led to great speculation that he could be leaving the liberal leaning news channel. "I'm sorry this situation has become public".

MSNBC's negotiators may be trying to extract various concessions, like a annual lower salary than O'Donnell wants.

Fox fires panelist Beckel for racially insensitive remark
Beckel, a former Democratic political strategist, had returned to the network in January after a stint as a commentator on CNN. Fox News Channel says it has fired Beckel for making an insensitive remark to a black employee.

Earlier this week, executives for the news network said that negotiations were underway, but those close to O'Donnell said that they were not, leading some to believe that his representatives may be angling for a more lucrative deal or a chance to jump to another network.

The story also said that there was a behind-the-scenes dispute about an attempt to move O'Donnell's show from 10 p.m.to 6 p.m.

In the past, Trump has even threatened to sue O'Donnell for false statements, but has never followed through.

O'Donnell, a former producer for NBC's political drama "The West Wing", tweeted his Nielsen success last week in an apparent jab at management.

On Wednesday, O'Donnell addressed rumors of his impending departure and bemoaned that the news had been made public.
