First Trailer for 'The Glass Castle' Featuring Brie Larson
19 May 2017, 11:59 | Anna Nguyen
The 2013 indie film Short Term 12 launched Brie Larson's career in a big way, and in the relatively quick time since then, she's starred in a major studio comedy (Trainwreck), a massive Hollywood monster movie (Kong: Skull Island), and snagged the lead role in an upcoming Marvel superhero film.
Based on the memoir by Jeannette Walls, "The Glass Castle" tells the story of the author as she recounts her and her siblings' upbringing with poverty-stricken parents due to her father never being able to find a stable job.
The trailer begins with Harrelson's Rex telling a young Jeannette (played Chandler Head at ages five and six and Ella Anderson at age 10) about the benefits of their unconventional lifestyle. "Their parents followed them, choosing to be homeless even as their children prospered". "We'd have to be out of our minds to trade places with them". Unless she doesn't actually want to reconnect with them, of course, which seems to be the main conflict here. But the film will also tell a true story about a very real - and very compelling - woman: Jeannette Walls, who penned the 2005 memoir of the same name from which The Glass Castle is adapted. Her two worlds collide when she realizes her parents are living in an abandoned building on the lower east side. Soon she becomes the journalist that we see in the film. "When did you lose your sense of adventure?" "We just need ideal location and we can get to work on our castle".
