The upcoming international trip is an opportunity for Trump and his staff

Melania is scheduled to accompany Trump throughout each day but is also expected to participate in her own events including spousal programs at the NATO and G-7 summits

Melania Trump is announcing her first foreign trip as first lady of the United States. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson described it today as being about uniting people of faith.

If the President wants to, he can use the trip as a way to break out of a debilitating period for his administration, to try to win some positive headlines for a change and even to engineer a morale boost for himself.

"This has all the markings of a coordinated, silent coup", said Michael Caputo, who worked on Trump's campaign and keeps in touch with administration officials.

"You think the hard left would do anything less?" added the man who as Speaker in the 1990s led House Republicans' impeachment of Bill Clinton. A lot of people are pulling for them.

From Saudi Arabia, Trump will move on to Israel, where he will have meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and meet Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas in the West Bank.

The next day, Trump will hold bilateral meetings with the Gulf Cooperation Council, which consists of six energy rich Middle Eastern countries.

McMaster said Trump would deliver a speech in Saudi Arabia expressing hope that a peaceful vision of Islam would resonate worldwide. Syria and Iran were not invited to the event as they are not part of a Saudi Arabian military alliance, that is being established to fight terrorism. As the Trump administration knows all too well, when you have a lot of staff talking to reporters, a president whose tweets can not be contained, and a press with an insatiable need to pounce on and criticize the president, it creates a fragile environment and the result is often nothing less than chaos. According to The Hill, however, Trump's friends blame the staff. As Democrats talk about possible obstruction of justice and dream of removing Trump from office, the president and his allies reject that he bears responsibility for his woes.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, right, walks with his campaign manager Corey Lewandowski after speaking at a news conference in Dubuque, Iowa, Aug. 25, 2015. For his team of advisers still gripped by self-doubt, the trip will become a proving ground for their own performance. Axios reported that Trump asked a senior aide if Spicer owned a dark suit after he appeared behind the podium in an ill-fitting, light gray suit for his first full day on the job. He will also visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. He also said the press should be banished to a nearby Starbucks and that Spicer should take questions from the American people.

And the president is also meeting at the Vatican with the pope, someone who said previous year that Trump is "not Christian" if he's talking about building walls.

Popular Video SNL is not a fan of the Trump administration, and it shows with every new skit they produce. Second, if various reports are to be believed, his wife Callista is about to be dispatched to Europe as America's ambassador to the Vatican. What the country really needs is a new president, not new functionaries.

Trump will then have a working lunch with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Here are five times Trump has been quoted about his press shop since January.

Trump is then expected to reaffirm his commitment to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation while unveiling the security bloc's memorial, in front of a piece of the Berlin Wall and segment of the World Trade Center. Secretary of Defense James Mattis will accompany Trump for a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation meeting and dinner.

Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank wrote a column this week charging 'Trump has sucked the lifeblood out of Sean Spicer'.

The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) on Friday pushed back on Trump's threat to cancel future White House briefings, noting that "White House briefings and press conferences provide substantive and symbolic opportunities for journalists to pose questions to officials at the highest levels of the USA government".
