The 1983 version of Scarface is a rare beast in cinema. He's built a career on exploring them in movies like Training Day, The Fast and the Furious, and Dark Blue (all of which he wrote or co-wrote), along with Harsh Times and End of Watch (both of which he wrote and directed). Ayer has actually been linked to this movie for a while, as he was originally hired to write the script for the movie in 2011. Ayer doesn't make good movies exactly, but before getting derailed by DC, he made some pretty insane ones. But he has since dropped out, citing scheduling issues. This new version of the gangster thriller has shifted locations from Miami to Los Angeles, and Ayer knows the dirty, gritty streets of modern day L.A.as well as any other current filmmaker.

A few weeks ago, we brought you the news that Rogue One star Diego Luna was going to pick up Tony Montana's chainsaw and mountain of cocaine, but it appears that the remake of a remake of a remake has found its director. Don't worry, there won't be any zombies in the Scarface reboot.

Diego Luna is now attached to star with the latest draft of the script penned by The Coen Brothers. Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, Dylan Clark will produce the film with Marty Bregman, producer of the 1983 Scarface from director Brian De Palma returning to produce as well.
