The company indicates that there have been no reports of the parking brake system failing and only a small percentage of gears in vehicles manufactured between the period.
Tesla stresses that this recall is being done only because the carmaker typically exercises an abundance of caution in these cases, and that only a small number of vehicles will likely ever exhibit the issue, and that even when they do, the resulting problems don't present a safety risk to either drivers or passengers.
But it's asking affected customers to bring in their vehicles to have their brakes replaced. The California based electric auto maker said that a "small fear" within the parking brake assembly made by one of the largest suppliers of high performance braking systems, Brembo, could potentially break and render the vehicle immobile.
Tesla estimates that only 5 percent of the cars it is recalling will be affected and that the replacement will take about 45 minutes.

The company said it would soon send out official recall notices by mail to owners. the copmany will begin replacing parts immediately, and plans to have parts for all affected vehicles by October 2017. In the meantime, it is safe to continue regular use of your vehicle. Tesla's latest recall is one of those. We apologize for this inconvenience.
