The news of Elizabeth Thomas' safe return is wonderful news for our community, and now, we can begin healing as a community, school district and as families touched by the AMBER alert. Authorities are actively investigating an incident involving the vehicle.

The arrest comes after authorities in Siskiyou County, California, confirmed to News 2 Cummins' Nissan Rogue was found there late Wednesday night. They confirmed through the VIN number that it belonged to Cummins, Devine said.

Police previously said they have warrants charging the teacher with sexual contact with a minor and aggravated kidnapping.

The girl walked out behind him and was later turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for additional questioning and a forensic exam, authorities said.

The former Tennessee teacher accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old student was arrested Thursday at a northern California commune. An Amber Alert was issued on March 14.

The Cecilville cabin is located in Siskiyou County, the fifth-largest by area in California and is 10 times the size of Maury County.
