It is traditional for US championship sports teams in any sport to meet and greet the president (whoever that might be at the time) at the White House.

U.S. President Donald Trump poses for photographs with the New England Patriots during a celebration of the team's Super Bowl victory on the South Lawn at the White House.

The Times also added a correction to a story about the gathering, writing: "An earlier version of this article included photos comparing the size of the Patriots' gathering at the White House in 2015 and the gathering on Wednesday".

The Times on Wednesday tweeted an Associated Press photo of the Patriots standing behind Obama on the south side of the White House in 2015. Facts: In 2015, over 40 football staff were on the stairs. On Wednesday, they were seated on the South Lawn. The tweet compared it with a NY Times photo taken Wednesday with Trump - showing both of the staircases empty.

"Comparable photos: The last time the #Patriots won two Super Bowls in three years, 36 players visited the White House".

Jose Mourinho: Europa League final would be perfect for Man Utd
If we need to keep a result , to keep the ball, to keep control of the game by having possession, he can help us too. Mourinho has discussed the decision in an interview with MUTV . "Marcus is trustable", the manager said.

The New York Times responded to the Patriots Wednesday on Twitter. Some players, such as Tom Brady, missed the visit for personal reasons, while others, such as LeGarrette Blount and Chris Long, did so due to their distaste for the president and his policies. The franchise has nine Super Bowl appearances.

The delegation was made up of Patriots players as well as the organization's personnel.

That said, there were in fact fewer players at yesterday's ceremony than at the one held two years ago.

That's when George W. Bush was president.

New England has now visited the White House five times after winning the Lombardy Trophy. The Patriots organization told the Times that despite the lower number of players present, the size of the overall delegation that went to the White House is about the same as it was two years ago.
