Stephens was on the run for days before being found in a McDonald's parking lot near Erie, Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania State Police tweeted that Steve Stephens was spotted on Tuesday morning in Erie County.

State police continue to work with federal and OH authorities, trying to build a timeline of the last few days in the life of Steve Stephens.

Cleveland police Chief Calvin Williams says the case offers lessons on the power of social media and the harm that can be done online.

"We would have liked to have brought Steve in peacefully and really talked to him about why this happened".

Stephens, who was 37, posted video on Facebook of his seemingly random killing of 74-year-old Robert Godwin Sr.in Cleveland on Sunday.

Mourning family members of a Cleveland man whose murder on Easter Sunday was posted online in a Facebook video said that despite their grief, they forgive their father's killer.

The shooting marked the latest video clip of a violent crime to turn up on Facebook, raising questions about how the world's biggest social media network moderates content.

Facebook came under severe criticism for not removing the murder video for more than two hours.

He said he "just snapped".

One of Godwin's daughters, Debbie, said she wished Stephens had been apprehended. "I'm not happy what you did, but I forgive you". The company said it does not allow such "horrific crime" on Facebook. And he didn't want to wait for the fries, which is fine, but he took his six-piece, didn't want any money back and headed out onto Buffalo Road.

The McDonald's employee called police as Stephens proceeded down the drive-thru, DuCharme said.

Law enforcement officials had said on Monday that Stephens' cellphone was last tracked Sunday afternoon near Erie. A police chase ensued for two miles until Stephens stopped.

Stephens was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in his auto on Tuesday April 18 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Godwin did not seem to recognize the name.

Cleveland's police chief earlier said on Tuesday that authorities had received more than 400 tips, including as far away as Texas. They say state police tried to pull him over and, after a brief chase, he shot himself.
