New video shows Nathan Carman being rescued at sea by a crew of a passing freighter

Video released shows the rescue of lone survivor Nathan Carman

The Vernon, Vermont, resident left a Rhode Island marina with Linda Carman on September 17.

The 2014 search warrant says that Nathan Carman was the last person to see his grandfather alive, and that he discarded his computer hard drive and Global Positioning System unit used around the time of the shooting death.

Nathan Carman managed to get off his boat, the Chicken Pox, before it went down. He was found in a life raft eight days later, but his mother was missing. She is presumed dead.

A lawyer for Nathan Carman argued it could hurt his client's efforts to find a job if the document remained in the public domain.

If the warrant is sealed, the information is no longer public and can not be mentioned again.

Carman, 23, attended the hearing but did not speak.

Dan Small, a lawyer for Linda Carman's sisters, said the family does not have a position on the request to seal the warrant.

The warrant disclosed that he was a suspect in the murder of John Chakalos, his millionaire grandfather.

Nathan Carman has continued to deny he was involved in his grandfather's death, though investigators said he was the last person to see Chakalos alive and bought a gun with the same caliber as the one used in the murder.

During the search of Carman's apartment on July 18, 2014, police found a Remington tactical shotgun, a rifle scope and several boxes of ammunition, the search warrant states.

Chakalos had more than $40 million in his estate before his was killed. Authorities confiscated the weapon.

Nathan Carman has also been under investigation in connection with the condition of his boat. He has not been charged.
