H-1B Visa Effect Many US-Based Indians Look For Jobs in India
US President Donald Trump signed an order tightening the rules and norms of H-1B visa+ programme to ensure that the visa is granted to the most skilled person and not just anybody.
Indians are the biggest beneficiaries of the two programmes.
Tewari said this government has completely and absolutely failed to preserve and protect it despite NASSCOM and other industry bodies making noise over the last two months trying to independently lobby the U.S. government on H1B visa programme.
He signed the order during a visit to the headquarters of Snap-On Inc, a tool manufacturer in Kenosha, Wisconsin, saying that H-1B visas should "never be used to replace Americans", adding that "we are about to take bold new steps to follow through on my pledge to buy American and hire American".
"We are an immigration nation, but the fact remains: Australian workers must have priority for Australian jobs, so we are abolishing the 457 visa, the visa that brings temporary foreign workers into our country", said Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
Turnbull he said would "put jobs first" and "Australians first", signalling a reduction in the occupations available to skilled foreign workers and raising the threshold to qualify.
Dutton said there were 95,757 workers in Australia on primary 457 visas and 76,430 secondary visa holders as at September 30 previous year.
"Indian firms support efforts to root out any abuse occurring in the H-1B system, as our IT industry is one of the most regulated sectors in the economy, and companies abide by applicable laws and regulations", claimed Nasscom.

Barghouti was also convicted of masterminding a suicide bombing attack that backfired and only killed the bombers. The prisoners say they are striking for more contact with relatives, and an end to detention without trial.
"The government is in touch with the governments of the United States and Australia on these matters and is also making full assessment of impact of these recent changes, in consultation with all stakeholders".
Nasscom while stating that there will not be any major impact due to the move, on Thursday said it would work closely with the governments to understand more details on the changes and ensure these changes can be implemented seamlessly to ensure business continuity for Australian customers.
The Australian Government recently announced that it would abolish the 457 visa and replace it with two new visas to protect the interests of native workers.
"As the 457 visa is valid till its expiry, its holders can stay and work in Australia although under a restricted occupation list category", it said.
This visa restriction laid out by the Trump government will impact Indian IT professionals.
It's unclear how the program may change, but India's huge tech industry says America still has a shortage of skilled workers that the H-1B system was created to ease.
Replying to query on the latest announcements curbings killed job visas by Australia and the USA, he said there is arising trend of "protectionism" globally and anti-globalisation.
