Carter Page a former foreign policy adviser of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump speaks at a news conference at RIA Novosti news agency in Moscow Russia Monday Dec. 12 2016. Page said he was in Moscow on a visit to meet with businessmen and politici

"He was one of the more active ones, in terms of being in touch [with the campaign]" the adviser said. They're also scrutinizing a testimony list.

These counterintelligence investigations on Russian Federation interference in the USA election commenced in July. No charges have been filed.

"I have not, since the inauguration, I have not spoken with anyone", said Page.

FBI Director James Comey has acknowledged that an investigation was opened past year into Russia's efforts to influence the election and the question of whether the Trump campaign coordinated with the Kremlin.

Page's CNN interview came a day after the Washington Post reported the FBI had received a warrant to surveil him in summer 2016 as part of the federal investigation into potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation to influence the presidential race. There are extensions for the warrants and the one for Carter Page was extended at least once. He was not charged as part of that case.

An FBI spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment from The AP.

Page, an energy consultant working in NY at the time, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in his dealings with the Trump campaign or Russian Federation. "I don't think I've ever met him".

Napolitano argued during his segment that "the FISA court does not issue warrants for individuals", and that there's no way to tell if Page is a target or just caught up in a broader investigation.

Page had been previously working as an investment banker before he became a foreign policy adviser to Trump's campaign. A few months later, Page sought and received permission from Trump's then-campaign manager to visit Moscow.

Russian Federation denies the allegations, which Trump also dismisses. "Washington and other western capitals have impeded potential progress through their often hypocritical focus on ideas such democratization, inequality, corruption, and regime change", Page said.

Days later, Page talked with Russia's ambassador to the U.S.at an event on the sidelines of the Republican National Convention. "But I was so happy to hear that further confirmation is now being revealed". The warrant presents the strongest information to date that the Federal Bureau of Investigation had reason to believe a Trump adviser was in touch with Moscow and met with foreign operatives during Trump's presidential campaign. The uncorroborated dossier alleges that Page served as a liaison between the Trump campaign and Kremlin. Those who served on the campaign's foreign policy advisory committee also said they had limited contact with Page.

Page claims that while he did send several memos to the Trump team and requested meetings, Page himself never personally briefed Trump.

In my opinion, the tapping of Carter Page's wires does not constitute the tapping of Donald Trump's wires.

I agree with John that there may well be a scandal associated with the Obama administration's actions towards Donald Trump and his campaign last Fall, as well as its actions after Trump prevailed.
