That man became his final victim, Dyer said. "Not get rid of them as in kill them", his father said.

Muhammad was arrested shortly after the deadly rampage. Court records show he was arrested in Washington state in 2004 after acknowledging he shot a gun outside his apartment.

David Jackson, 58, died at the scene.

Mr Muhammad, who was born as Kori Taylor, was imprisoned in 2005 for gun and cocaine charges. A third was in a local charity's parking lot.

The two were waiting for the bus when authorities say Kori Ali Muhammad, who is black, targeted the white men at random. Phyllis Cervantes, right, says a prayer for Tuesday's shooting victims at a memorial of candles and flowers outside Catholic Charities on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Fresno, Calif.

Greer says Jackson was a military veteran.

Stalking the streets armed with a.357 calibre revolver, the "black soldier" allegedly murdered three men in cold blood as he reportedly howled "Allahu akbar". Chief Dyer says surveillance video shows Williams' murder and the attempted shooting of a second security guard.

Shortly before 11 a.m., he approached two men sitting in a PG&E truck on a tree-lined street in downtown Fresno. He fired 17 rounds in less than two minutes. He then shot at a passenger in a PG & E truck, killing him, and at another passerby who was unharmed. "It would be much better for him to turn himself into the Fresno Police Department". "And that is what he set out to do that day", Dyer says.

It was reported by BBC news that he shouted "God is greatest" in Arabic when arrested but this was a hate crime not terrorism, Mr Dyer believed.

Weather official: Severe thunderstorms to hit Nebraska, Iowa
So what's the tornado threat? Most of Saturday will be very warm and dry, but we cannot rule out a morning shower Saturday. The storms are expected to continue into Friday night before moving out of the region early Saturday.

Dyer said Muhammad confessed to having shot Williams "because he felt that Williams had disrespected him". "In the midst of a tragedy officers see and experience things that no one else should experience, and we know it takes a toll on them", said Dyer.

"He was going to kill as many white males as possible and that's what he set out to do that day", Dyer said.

The suspect told his family there was a war going on between blacks and whites in America. Muhammad picked out Jackson to follow because he was older and "appeared to be heavier", Dyer said Muhammad told investigators.

A new affidavit says an acquaintance of the man accused of killing four people in a racially motivated rampage tried to hide evidence in the Fresno motel following one of the killings there.

Muhammad "is not a terrorist but he is a racist", Dyer said.

"We're living in an era of violent reciprocal prejudice, and there are references on his website to Fard Muhammad, the founder of Nation of Islam, and Nation of Islam uses the term white devils quite prolifically, as did this shooter", Levin said.

Before Tuesday's events, Muhammad was already being sought in connection with the shooting death last week of Carl Williams, 25, a security guard at a Motel 6.

Police were alerted to the scene Tuesday through ShotSpotter, a gunfire locator that detected multiple gunshots in the same vicinity, Dyer said Tuesday.

It was not immediately clear why security got involved, but the woman started arguing with Carl Williams, a 25-year-old unarmed security guard, police said.
