Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus in line for return for Man City
21 April 2017, 06:56 | Andy Ferguson
Pep Guardiola has revealed Gabriel Jesus could start Manchester City's FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal in a return that would be almost a month earlier than the original prognosis regarding his metatarsal injury.
The Brazil worldwide made a stunning start to life at City, scoring three goals in his first two league games before getting injured on February 13 against Bournemouth.
"Today he will make part of the training with us and he is coming back with his happiness". The structure was suggested by Pep Guardiola and although the player was initially expected to come back to action in May, Guardiola is now hopeful Gabriel Jesus will sit on the bench against Arsenal at the week-end.
The Brazil striker has been out for the past two months after undergoing surgery to fix a broken bone in his foot.
"In just 10 minutes against Tottenham he created two or three chances himself and scored (a disallowed goal)". You know how hard it is to come into the Premier League and play how we play.
Guardiola said the striker could be involved in the final, perhaps even from the start.
"We want the FA Cup to put in my players' heads how good they are", he added. "That's why we're so happy he can help us to score goals at the end of the season".
United Kingdom heads for surprise general election
The Commission will not interfere with the possible British elections because they are "a domestic issue", the spokesman said. She said: "I have concluded the only way to guarantee certainty and security for years ahead is to hold this election".
Guardiola is happy with City's development this season but asked if the owners will share his view he said "I don't think they will be happy. This is a fantastic club and team, I'm so proud of what we've done and how we've overcome bad moments". For all clubs titles are important.
"And when I said about the circumstances where we have come from in the last two seasons, the way we played we have made some good things". "After we will see".
Stones has failed to recover from the muscle injury that ruled him out of last week's game at Southampton and he could also be doubtful for next Thursday's derby against Manchester United.
"All the squad are travelling down tomorrow and we will watch the match between Tottenham and Chelsea", he said. After dinner I will decide the team. They are fantastic players and a fantastic team and winning titles helps you a lot.
"You realise you have lived that experience and when you win a title or a final it is a lot of stress and pressure".
Guardiola said of Stones: "The problem is muscular, (he was hurt) one day in a training session".
"Maybe he is coming back for [Thursday's Premier League game against] Manchester United but I don't know right now".
