Manitoba RCMP say an 11-year-old boy from a remote First Nation has died after a group of kids started playing with a gun they found.

When officers arrived at the home, they found an 11-year-old boy with life-threatening conditions.

During the RCMP investigation, they discovered that three boys - one 12-year-old and two 11-year-olds - were playing in the home when they found an improperly stored firearm. The boy later died of his injuries, RCMP said in a statement. While the 12-year-old was handling it, the gun fired and struck the 11-year-old victim.
