Bauer (1-2) pitched 6 1/3 innings and struck out seven batters while allowing two runs on three hits and two walks.
Along with left-handed relievers Boone Logan and Andrew Miller, as well as right-handed set-up man Bryan Shaw, Bauer was one of four pitchers the Indians used to get through the bottom of the seventh inning without the Twins scoring a run.
"I feel great, especially when my team is winning", Carlos Santana said.
The bullpen allowed just one hit and two walks against four strikeouts in two-plus innings of work in the Indians' third straight victory.
As a follow-up to Bauer's smooth recovery, the Tribe offense strung together baserunners in six of their first eight plate appearances in the seventh - Yandy Diaz single, Roberto Perez single, Santana RBI double, Francisco Lindor intentional walk, Michael Brantley RBI walk and Jose Ramirez RBI walk. The Twins are losers of three in a row and are 1-4 on a homestand that was shortened to nine games when Wednesday's scheduled contest was rained out and rescheduled as a doubleheader on June 17.
A pair of RBI doubles off the bats of Lonnie Chisenhall and Yan Gomes added two more ninth-inning insurance runs to seal the deal. "I'm more comfortable now and I love the park. I feel great, so I have to keep it up".
NOTES: Cleveland manager Terry Francona said "everything points" to 2B Jason Kipnis (shoulder) returning to the lineup during the weekend in Chicago. Minnesota manager Paul Molitor was ejected for the first time this season and fifth time in his managerial career after catcher Jason Castro struck out in the eighth on a check swing that was ruled a swing by home plate umpire Alan Porter. Molitor wanted Porter to look for help from third base umpire Andy Fletcher.
"I thought there was some inconsistencies today, but probably not the difference in the game", Molitor said. The ball just missed getting out of the ballpark, as it hit close to the top of the 23-foot wall. I haven't seen the video.

Ervin Santana didn't have his best stuff on a chilly afternoon with an opening pitch temperature of 43 degrees.
The Twins wasted another strong start from Santana, who stretched his scoreless-innings streak to 22 innings before Santana doubled home Almonte in the fifth.
Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana throws against the Cleveland Indians in the first inning of a baseball game Thursday, April 20, 2017, in Minneapolis. "I was trying to make a good pitch".
Twins CF Byron Buxton struck out again and his hitting.082. His 24 strikeouts lead the majors. But before the game, Molitor told reporters he is not contemplating sending his prized youngster back to Triple-A.
"We didn't contain there at the end", Molitor said. "But obviously it's not an unexpected question because people are going to wonder".
With the win, the Tribe now sits 8-7 on the year and head on to the windy city for a three-game series against the White Sox.
RHP Corey Kluber (1-1, 6.38) is on tap for his fourth start after earning his first win of the season last Saturday over Justin Verlander and the Tigers. Minnesota hosts Detroit and will have LHP Hector Santiago (1-1, 1.47) on the mound.
