All trade deals undermining Buy America provisions to be investigated

The order is aimed at fulfilling his "America First" campaign promises.

H-1B visas, which are awarded on a lottery system, are capped at 85,000 nationwide.

In the upcoming executive order, Trump is expected to have the Department of Homeland Security, the agency that issues the H-1B visa, to further review their conditions for awarding.

Trump signed an executive order billed as "Hire American, Buy American" on Tuesday afternoon at the headquarters of tool manufacturer Snap-on (SNA) in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

But they are confident that greater "engagement" with the Trump administration will help soften their stance towards H-1B visas.

"We believe jobs must be offered to American workers first".

Current rules associated with America's trade deals and immigration policies unfairly place American companies and workers at a disadvantage.

Last year, it generated $64.8bn of revenue. "But they are likely to head higher from FY18", he added. An administration official told reporters on Monday that 80% of the immigrants who enter the US on H-1B visas are paid less than the median wage in their fields.

EPL: Liverpool pip West Brom
The Reds now move into third place, two points ahead of Manchester City, although the Citizens have a game in hand on Liverpool. It was Liverpool's first win in nine Premier League away games against teams managed by Tony Pulis.

The four departments will then submit their findings to Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and release a report in 220 days.

Instead of a lottery, Trump wants to prioritize "the most skilled and highest paid applicants". "We'd actually support an evaluation and a review and reform of that", said Michael Schutzler of Washington Technology Industry Association, a trade group that represents 9,000 tech companies across the state.

The executive order makes no specific amendments to the policies of the H-1B and other visa programs, according to the New York Times.

The order also asks several leaders in the Trump administration to suggest reforms to the H-1B visa program.

The White House said the programme undercuts American workers by bringing in large numbers of cheaper foreign workers, which drives down USA wages. Critics say these undercut unemployed Americans and fill lower-level information technology jobs. Currently, the cap on H1-B visas stands at 65,000, out of which 25,000-35,000 are issued to Indian nationals.

The Reuters news agency examined U.S. Labor Department records and found that more than 15 percent of Facebook's employees in the United States in 2016 used a temporary work visa.

With the order, Trump is formally calling for the secretary of commerce and the USA trade representative to assess "the impacts of all US free trade agreements" as part of the new plan.
