Reuben Foster reportedly fails drug test at NFL combine

ATLANTA GA- DECEMBER 31 Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Reuben Foster walks onto the field prior to the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl football game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Washington Huskies

Alabama LB Reuben Foster failed his Combine drug test due to a diluted sample.

Foster, who believes he had food poisoning, said he had been offered IVs to hydrate, but he didn't want to do that. The Butkus Award victor last season said he couldn't keep much food down and was drinking water and Gatorade to keep his weight up ahead of meetings with coaches and team executives.

Foster told Rapoport his combine test was reported as dilute, which, based on the NFL's substance policy provision, is treated like a positive test. That means Foster will enter the NFL's drug program upon being drafted, where he'll be subject to periodic and unannounced drug testing as soon as he signs a contract. A first-round selection is still in play, here, but his trajectory is going in the wrong direction. So I drank and ate as much as I could without throwing up. "I hope I go on Thursday, but I can't control that".

"I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do, but no matter what I do, it doesn't come out right", he said.

The Scouting Combine has not gone well for Foster just a month ago he was sent home early after getting into a heated argument with a health-care worker.

The Duke of Cambridge meets mental health marathon runners

"I apologized for that, I've learned from it", Foster said. His production on the field has drawn comparisons to outstanding linebackers such as Luke Kuechley, a former NFL Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-Pro Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Some teams could freak and he could drop from mid-first round projections to being a day two pick - but give kudos for him being a man and owning up to things. Growing up, those were the people from my neighborhood.

Foster said this process has been mentally draining and taxing.

One of the most popular and prominent names amongst Arizona Cardinals fans and media is Reuben Foster.
