'13 Reasons Why': Was Hanna Baker's Final Scene Necessary?

20 April 2017, 10:00 | Anna Nguyen

Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, which depicts the suicide of a teenage girl, has sparked a huge rise in mental health helpline calls. However, if you are looking for a show with emotional impact and an interesting story throughout, the show has its moments, but they are not as consistent as they could be.

The young writer, who has suffered depression and suicidal thoughts earlier in her life, says the Netflix show plays the blame game on people around Hannah Baker, the teenager who commits suicide. The show starts with Hannah Baker's suicide and how her high school is dealing with the loss.

Hatfield said she believes the other issues - sexual assault, stalking, toxic relationships - complemented the main theme of suicide. But if you want to watch a well-made and enlightening series, give "13 Reasons Why" a try. "They are hard issues, but we need to build more visibility around them".

"I think we don't talk enough when things aren't going well", Taylor said on ABC's Good Morning America.

The show is not without controversy.

Peter Macphail Sells 32341 Shares of Alamos Gold Inc (AGI) Stock

Selena previously revealed that she'd joined the show in a bid to offer her support to struggling teens, however, several mental health experts have now slammed the series.

"Particularly around exposure and vulnerability for that age group, kids are very impulsive", she said. Aguirre made her last Facebook post just before she committed suicide. "I'm just crossing my fingers". "So I think listening and trying to get the earliest intervention possible".

Sanchez said she never suspected her child's troubles with bullies would lead her to take her own life. Regardless of the time frame, this story is one that will leave you thinking and reflecting on the deeper issues that revolve around day-to-day human interaction and how kindness matters to the people that are hurting most. The organisation said that the show presents viewers with graphic scenes that portray suicide.

"It's unsafe not to talk about it, because there is always room for help", he added in "Beyond the Reasons".

Both viewers and professionals have come forward to accuse "13 Reasons Why" of romanticising and glorifying suicide, with the incredibly graphic scene of Hannah's suicide also being blasted as irresponsible and damaging.

Yesterday (April 18), the actor posted a photo to Instagram of a little note clearly left behind by one of his many fans-but this note was etched into the dirt on his auto windshield.
