J. Denny Weaver: Ryan's health care bill reveals his values

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan speaks to the media about the American Health Care Act at the Capitol in Washington D.C

"We believe we should have even more assistance, and that's one of the things we're looking at, for that person in the 50s and 60s because they experience higher health care costs", Ryan said. Per Reuters, Ryan says that Republicans are massaging the bill to include work requirements for able-bodied Medicaid recipients and allow federal block grants. Lawmakers plan to have the healthcare legislation on the House floor this Thursday, Ryan said.

He told Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace that he feels "very good" about the bill ahead of Thursday's vote, vowing to make good on the Republican party's promise to "repeal and replace this faulty collapsing law". Republicans hold a majority in the chamber but can not afford to have more than 21 defections for the measure to pass.

The Congressional Budget Office predicted this week about 24 million fewer Americans would be insured under the Republican healthcare plan by 2026 largely by eliminating the individual mandate and curbing Medicaid growth.

"If it needs more beefing up. for folks who are low income, between 50 and 64 years of age, that's something that we've talked about, something that we've entertained, and that may happen throughout the process", he said.

Jets Were Reportedly Concerned About Dont'a Hightower's Physical
Money wasn't necessarily the reason the Jets dropped out of the Dont'a Hightower sweepstakes after his visit with the team Monday. To reach that, Hightower would've had to play in every game and make the Pro Bowl every year over the length of the contract.

Dear Editor: Since resistance has grown and it will certainly be amended, it is not necessary to debate too many details of the Trump-Ryan health care plan that Paul Ryan presented recently. The benefits guaranteed by the ACA will be reduced or nonexistent, leaving the buyer of "low cost" health insurance with less coverage, with larger co-pays and deductibles. "It's fixable, but it's going to take a lot of work", Cotton said on CNN's "State of the Union". Addressing all the concerns is "what tough legislation looks like".

"It's exactly where we want to be", he said". The bill adds complicated tax issues, health savings accounts, seemingly arbitrary tax credits and other obstacles including the re-institution of rescission, that make having to deal with already debilitating health issues exponentially more complex and hard.

The BlueCross BlueShield Association emphasized the need for the replacement to be affordable when the draft of the healthcare bill was released earlier this month.

One bright spot for providers is that, should the plan pass, the number of uninsured people would rise while the number on Medicaid rolls would drop.
