Gates, the richest man in the world with a net worth of more than $86 billion as of Friday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, has spent much his time in recent years promoting global development and health through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Rather, Trump's net worth is down because about 40 percent of his wealth comes from real estate he owns in midtown Manhattan, including Trump Tower and eight other buildings within about a mile.

The publication has published its famous list every year for 31 years; 2017 was the first Forbes' reported more than 2,000 billionaire fortunes worldwide. Bill Gates has topped the Forbes list for 18 out of the past 23 years.

The highest ranking woman on the list was L'Oreal cosmetics shareholder Liliane Bettencourt, who was 14th with $39.5 billion (roughly Rs. 2,58,318 crores).

This year it took at least US$3.7bil (RM16.3bil) in wealth to make it onto the list, but only in a tie for 501th place, a group that included Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.

Amancio Ortega: Ortega co-founded the hugely successful high street Spanish retail chain Zara, and now boasts a net worth of $74 billion. He ranked 717th on the latest list, down from 612th a year ago. By adding $27.6 billion to his fortune in the past 12 months, Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos is the third richest person on Earth and holds the distinction of earning the largest annual income in the past year. Buffett now holds a net worth of $77.3 billion and made this year's list at No.2.

Hart is the second wealthiest person in Australasia, with mining tycoon Gina Rinehart the richest, ranking at No 69 on the Forbes list with a wealth estimated at US$15b ($21b).

In Florida, there are 51 billionaires who claim residences in the state.
