The former Arizona Cardinals linebacker met with Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis for breakfast in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Friday, and agreed to sign with the Cincinnati franchise the next day, according to Bengals team reporter Geoff Hobson.

According to Jim Owczarski of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals signed linebacker Kevin Minter to a one-year contract on Saturday that could ultimately reach a total of $4.5 million if he hits all of his incentives.

It's interesting that Minter is going to Cincinnati, where he will ostensibly replace Dansby, who is obviously replacing him. Minter contributed to a Cardinals' front-seven that ranked sixth-best in this analytic. After losing star defensive lineman Calais Campbell to the Jacksonville Jaguars (on a four-year, $60 million deal) and safety Tony Jefferson to the Baltimore Ravens (four years, $34 million) earlier in the 2017 free agency period, the Cardinals are now watching linebacker Kevin Minter leave as well.

Out of nine 2013 draft picks, the Cardinals have two left - Mathieu and Andre Ellington, with Stepfan Taylor still a free agent.

The Bengals wanted to sign him for more than one season, but apparently Minter, who had 96 tackles and 3.5 sacks in 2016 with Arizona, is betting on himself in 2017. Minter became a mainstay of the defense the past two seasons, starting every game.
