Waco Company Recalls Beef Products Due to Possible E. Coli Contamination

Waco-Based H&B Packing Co. Recalls Boneless Beef Products

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), an estimated 73,742 pounds of boneless beef products were recalled. These items were shipped to food manufacturers in Texas.

So far, there have not been any reports of illness stemming from the recall.

The boneless beef was packed in 60-pound boxes, and carried a case code of 69029 and production date of March 6.

In the release, H&B Packing owners Rick and Benjy Bauer said, "We take this situation seriously".

The products being recalled have an establishment number "EST".

Signs and symptoms of E. coli O157:H7 infection typically begin three or four days after exposure to the bacteria and include diarrhea (which may be bloody), abdominal cramping, nausea and vomiting.

However, customers who have purchased these products are warned not to use them.

The USDA advises all consumers to safely prepare their raw meat products, including fresh and frozen, and only consume ground meat that has been cooked to a temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
